The tiger-centric subplot is a reference to the era in Tyson’s life when he owned apparently three large cats at the same time. It takes advantage of his well-known eccentricities while using his reputation for violence both in the ring and out as subtext. At the same time, the film fawns over him like the megastar athlete he once was. “He’s still got it,” Helms marvels after Tyson knocks Galifianakis unconscious with a single punch. It’s a strange balance, and for those who might not be so quick to overlook the fighter’s sexual assault conviction or other crimes, it makes for uneasy viewing. The film’s success spawned two direct sequels and made movie stars of its three leads — and of Tyson, in a way. At the very least, it showed audiences that Tyson could laugh at himself, and perhaps showed filmmakers that he was willing to take direction.
In Tyson’s case, it serves as a symbol of his unique persona, representing his resilience and strength both inside and outside the boxing ring. This facial tattoo has become an enduring symbol of his image.
On May 23, 2020, at All Elite Wrestling’s Double or Nothing, Tyson helped Cody defeat Lance Archer alongside Jake Roberts and presented him the inaugural AEW TNT Championship. Tyson alongside Henry Cejudo, Rashad Evans, and Vitor Belfort appeared on the May 27 episode of AEW Dynamite facing off against Chris Jericho and his stable The Inner Circle. Tyson returned to AEW on the April 7, 2021, episode of Dynamite and helped Jericho from being attacked by The Pinnacle, beating down Shawn Spears in the process. He was the special guest enforcer on the April 14 episode of Dynamite for a match between Jericho and Dax Harwood of The Pinnacle, a preview of the upcoming Inner Circle vs. Pinnacle match at Blood and Guts.
As a result, Tyson was disqualified from the fight, fined more than $3 million, and had his boxing license suspended (though it was reinstated a year later.) He later tried to explain why he’d bitten Holyfield, saying at a press conference:
“The tattooist has never consulted with Maori, has never had experience of Maori and originally and obviously stole the design that he put on Tyson,” Ngahuia Te Awekotuku, a professor with a focus on Maori and Pacific art at the University of Waikato in New Zealand, and author of “Mau Moko: The World of Maori Tattoo,” told the New Zealand Herald.
According to Heavy, Mike Tyson told the Impaulsive with Logan Paul podcast that he was arrested 40 times before the age of 12 while growing up in Brooklyn. He said that he committed “burglaries, pick-pocketing, snatching jewelry… One-punch knockout and then go in their pocket, robbery.”
A rematch between Zhang and Joanna Jędrzejczyk took place on June 11, 2022, at UFC 275. For this fight Zhang trained at Bangtao Muay Thai & MMA gym in Thailand and worked with Josh Hinger. Zhang won the fight via knockout with a spinning backfist in the second round. This win earned her the Performance of the Night award and the Crypto.com “Fan Bonus of the Night” awards paid in bitcoin of US$10,000 for third place.

In 2013, Tyson was inducted into the Nevada Boxing Hall of Fame and headlined the induction ceremony. Tyson was inducted into the Southern Nevada Hall of Fame in 2015 along with four other inductees with ties to Southern Nevada.
In September 2011, Tyson gave an interview in which he made comments about former Alaska governor Sarah Palin including crude and violent descriptions of interracial sex. These comments were reprinted on The Daily Caller website. Journalist Greta van Susteren criticized Tyson and The Daily Caller over the comments, which she described as “smut” and “violence against women”.
But it wasn’t until years later that Tyson discussed the tattoo while chatting with sportscaster Jim Grey on his podcast that Tyson revealed his reasons behind getting the tattoo. When asked by Grey why he got the tribal tattoo Tyson replied, “I don’t know. I was supposed to do it earlier. Put this tattoo, I wanted a tattoo on my face. I was gonna put a bunch of hearts on my face, there’s a bunch of little hearts and my friends are like, no I am not gonna do anything whack like that.”
